Groundbreaking scheduled for new Tudor Bingo

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m., for a new Tudor Road Bingo facility behind Parker Drilling and Lily’s Family Restaurant in Anchorage. Construction of the building will commence this month and is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2014.

Tudor Road Bingo is also rolling out a new name to coincide with the move, rebranding the business as Tudor Bingo.

Media is invited to attend by Tudor Bingo, Sitnasuak Native Corp. and Pfeffer Development, LLC. Those interested should contact Amy Slinker of Pfeffer Development prior to the event. The groundbreaking will be at the project site behind 1420 East Tudor Road. Media is encouraged to arrive early, as the ceremony and photo opportunity will begin promptly.

Since its founding 20 years ago, Tudor Bingo has raised more than $21 million for non-profits in the Alaskan community. It supports Special Olympics Alaska, Alaska Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Rotary Club of Anchorage East, among many other organizations. Tudor Bingo’s new building is expected to be the most state-of-the-art Bingo facility in Alaska.

The developer for the project is Nanuaq Development, a joint venture between Sitnasuak Native Corp. and Pfeffer Development. Sitnasuak Native Corp. is the largest of the 16 village corporations in the Bering Straits region and headquartered in Nome. Pfeffer Development is an Alaska-based commercial real estate developer. The development process for this project utilizes a process guaranteeing price and delivery date of projects up front, minimizing risk and ensuring a predetermined completion date.

The groundbreaking ceremony will feature an official gold shovel groundbreaking photo opportunity and speeches from representatives from Tudor Bingo, Sitnasuak Native Corp. and Pfeffer Development.

Tudor Bingo’s concessionaire, Blaine’s Kitchen & Snack Bar, will provide light refreshments at the event. Anchorage East Rotary Club representative and former Mayor of Anchorage, Rick Mystrom, will serve as the master of ceremonies.

In addition to teaming together for the new facility, Tudor Bingo is excited to announce a new partnership with the Sitnasuak Foundation. The Sitnasuak Foundation, a branch of Sitnasuak Native

Corp., is a private nonprofit corporation created for the purpose of funding scholarships to Sitnasuak shareholders and other Alaskan applicants.

The new Bingo facility will be approximately 19,000 square feet on a 2.75 acre parcel of land. Once through the central entrance canopy, clean lines and a 15-foot-high ceiling will create an inviting atmosphere ideal for efficiency as well as an entertaining gaming experience. A new kitchen and large customer counter area will provide enhanced access to food service options.

Nanuaq is working with local companies on the project including design-builder Criterion General Inc. and kpb architects, with project financing from Northrim Bank. Upon completion, Pfeffer Development will be the property manager of the building.
