10/24/2013 - pupil + paper | Student Design Paper Fashion Competition (Community)

Pfeffer Development is proud to be one of the sponsors of the pupil + paper multi-dimensional fundraiser event to benefit The Children's Lunchbox, presented by kpb architects.

Through a garment design competition, pupil + paper also promotes education through art by offering Anchorage School District high school students an opportunity to compete for scholarships by creating fashion from recycled paper.

The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, from 6 - 10 p.m. at The Anchorage Museum. Get your tickets now at pupilandpaper.brownpapertickets.com

Here is a message from kpb architects and more details on the event:

Throughout the years, kpb architects has earned a reputation for giving back to our community in design as well as in humanitarian efforts.

Community responsibility is the foundation of the core values established by our firm. Over the past several years, kpb architects has hosted events to focus attention on Anchorage children who are suffering from hunger. Anchorage has more than 18,000 AT-RISK children living in poverty and thousands more in other Alaskan communities.

Our firm has selected to support The Children’s Lunchbox in their efforts to provide healthy food directly into the hands of young elementary school students. The Children’s Lunchbox provided more than 200,000 meals last year and their goal is to increase the number of meals by 20 percent to meet current demands.

We would like to invite you to attend the event and meet the 19 teams of local high school students that will be competing for scholarships provided by kpb architects. The students are currently working on designing fashion garments made out of recycled materials.

The students are receiving mentorships by local artists and staff from kpb architects. The completed garments will be displayed in a fashion gallery at the pupil + paper event.

A panel of judges will select the top-three garments to win 1 of 3 scholarships and people attending the event will also be able to vote for their top three designs.

The event will feature a silent auction showcasing items provided by local businesses as well as “luxe lunchboxes” enhanced by talented artists in the community.

kpb is grateful for your generosity, and is committed to continuing to promote awareness in alleviating the hunger felt by our children in Anchorage.
