02/19/2014 - New Branch Announced for Anchorage's U-Med District (Press Release)

A branch of Alaska’s largest locally owned bank will open in a new building on the corner of Providence Drive and Piper Street in the U-Med district of Anchorage in late 2014, announced First National Bank Alaska President Betsy Lawer.

The 31st branch of First National will be a two-story building offering the convenience of three drive-up lanes, including a drive-up ATM and night drop. A staff of lending and deposit experts will focus on meeting the banking needs of Alaskans living and working in the area.

Located in the heart of Alaska’s university and medical district, First National banking experts at the new branch will offer the expertise of the state’s most experienced local bank. “We know Alaska and the unique challenges and opportunities inherent in living, studying and doing business in the Last Frontier,” said Lawer. “With that first-hand knowledge and experience, our experts have developed financial solutions especially for individuals, families and businesses in Alaska.

“This new branch, conveniently located just between the UAA Student Center and the Providence Hospital building, will also open the door to banking opportunities with future Alaskan leaders and business people,” Lawer said.

A full-function customer kiosk where customers can handle routine banking transactions online without teller assistance will be available on the first floor of the new branch, with private offices for lending activities located on the second level.

The bank will occupy a 6,300 sq. ft. unit of the new building developed by Pfeffer Development, LLC, a multidisciplinary commercial real estate developer based in Anchorage. Criterion General, Inc. is the design-builder and kpb architects is the design firm for the project.

Pfeffer Development has been working closely with the Municipality of Anchorage to apply goals of the Adopted U-Med/Universities and Medical District Framework Master Plan to the project. The new building will integrate into the existing environment, providing green space and convenient access through pedestrian/bike paths. It will also feature contemporary exterior finishes and expansive windows allowing for natural light and views of the surrounding landscape.

Alaskan-owned and operated since 1922, First National proudly meets the financial needs of Alaskans with ATMs and 30 branches in 18 communities throughout the state. Forbes named the bank one of the nation's Most Trustworthy Companies in 2012 and 2013.
