03/21/2014 - First National Bank Alaska breaks snow for new U-Med Branch
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – More than 40 people gathered on snow-covered land to break ground on the First National Bank Alaska U-Med Branch in Anchorage today.
Representatives from First National, Pfeffer Development and other project team members used gold shovels to break through snow to begin construction. A ceremonial commercial loan closing also occurred on site, signifying the first loan closing at this new branch. The property is located on the southwest corner of Providence Drive and Piper Street in Anchorage.
“This new branch is a demonstration of our interest in providing convenient service to our customers in the growing health care industry and the Alaskans these health professionals serve,” D.H. Cuddy, chairman of First National Bank Alaska said. “We also hope to include among our bank’s new customers more of Alaska’s best and brightest; students at the University of Alaska Anchorage who are learning how to become the future leaders of our great state.”
The bank will occupy a 6,300 sq. ft. unit of a new building developed by Pfeffer Development, LLC.
Criterion General, Inc. is the design-builder and kpb architects is the design firm for the project, scheduled for completion in December.
The 31st branch of First National will be a two-story space offering three drive-up lanes, including a drive-up ATM and night drop.
Customers will have access to a full-function customer kiosk where they can handle routine banking transactions online without teller assistance and private offices for lending activities.
“We have been working closely with the Municipality of Anchorage to apply goals of the Adopted U-Med/Universities and Medical District Framework Master Plan to this project,” Mark Pfeffer, president of Pfeffer Development said. “The new building will integrate into the existing environment, providing green space and convenient access through pedestrian and bike paths. It will also feature contemporary exterior finishes and expansive windows allowing for natural light and views of the surrounding landscape.”
